Default Problems with sub-domain and Blogger

    Hello Bluehost,

I have recently created a blog on Blogger, and have been looking through their publishing options and have discovered that they allow custom domain usage.

I decided to create a sub-domain off of my domain, robertcity.com, and decided on http://blog.robertcity.com.

When entering the url into the Blogger space, it updates just fine, and my Blogger blog redirects to blog.robertcity.com.

But for some reason, after creating the blog.robertcity.com sub-domain, and accessing my blog via the new url, I received an error message. It was stating permissions I believe.

Nevertheless, I decided to try to remove the blog sub-domain url and try again, same thing happens.

When I don't create the sub-domain, blogger redirects me to the default bluehost.com website "There is no website configured at this address." page. So it works on Blogger, but the sub-domain is not working with bluehost.com

Is BlueHost setup to not work with Blogger, or is it a problem or issue that I have with the setup?

I clicked on the c-panel's "Sub-Domain" menu, and entered in "blog" in the space, followed by clicking on "create".

Did you then set it up to redirect to your blog or is it still sitting there as an empty sub-domain waiting to have something added to it?

Because I was not sure how Blogger would re-direct, I left it empty. I will now try to have it redirect to my blog.

Edit: I have set up the blog.robertcity.com sub-domain to redirect to my blog. Sadly, there is a cycle.

If you go to my blog at www.blog.robertcity.com, it will lead to the blogger site that will redirect you to blog.robertcity.com, and that will redirect you to the blogger site that will redirect you back, and forth, and the cycle will keep going.

The one where your blog is actually located should not be redirecting.

EDIT: Okay, so after reading through on Blogger, I realized that I had to complete a few other steps before the blog would work properly.

First, I need to create a "CNAME record". this page doesn't list bluehost, but under the 'other hosts', I try to follow the directions but bluehost's c-panel has no options.

Where do I create a CNAME record?

I am sorry if double posting is against the rules. I could not find any direct thread explaining the rules for double posting.

I have google searched and found out that the only apparent way to setup a CNAME record is to use bluehost.com's live chat? Is that correct?

This rings a bell - I believe that is, in fact, the only way to do it. The cPanel domain manager stuff doesn't give you any way to do it.

May I dare ask why there are no options?
